The paradox, as far as I can see it, is that as a male with submissive tendencies, I still do what I can to move our relationship in a direction I want. I don’t let her totally run the show, and honestly, she wouldn’t want to anyway.

Is there really a paradox? Consider:

In Seville, the barber shaves all of the people who do not shave themselves.

If the barber does not shave himself, then he is shaved by the barber (himself) so he must shave himself. But the, he shaves himself, so he must not shave himself.

Like the barber, somebody in your relationship has to drive. If Belle is not experienced or has not been exposed to the ideas and concepts, then it's up to you to teach her, or perhaps, to lead her to the well from which she can learn on her own, at her own pace.

And at some point, you'll have to stop <strike> shaving </strike> leading and pushing, and simply accept.

There's more, but I think I feel a post coming on.
