Tumblr on Flipboard
Using the Flipboard iPad app to browse your Tumblr dashbord is fantastic. The perfect porn consumption combination. Highly recommended.
UPDATE: I take “perfect” back. It only seems to load a finite number of posts. It would be perfect if it kept loading them infinitely. Still. Very pretty.

Have you tried Reeder?
For the sites to whose RSS feeds I subscribe, yes, I think Reeder is great. Best of the RSS apps on the iPad as far as I can tell. For Tumblr, though, the iPad is a wasteland. There is no app from Tumblr and there are no clear standouts among all the third-party apps. Flipboard is more than just an RSS reader and I was very excited to see native support for Tumblr in it. They got most of the way there. Up until the feed runs out, it’s easily the best Tumblr app on the platform.

Well what did you expect photos are memory hogs and Ipads have limited memory to play with.
Doesn’t seem to be a problem for the Tumblr iPhone app. It scrolls infinitely loading the images in batches. I assume it drops the earliest ones and replaces them with the latest. In any event, there must be a programatic way to deal with situations like this. *Every* computer has limited memory.
